A quick update with a new CGI showing the rear of the next Laguna. This is a reliable interpretation based on inside information: Renault has been hiding this new car very well! As you can see, the design is elegant but still recognisable as French incorporating sufficient Renault DNA. For example, check the door handles... very French indeed. Still, the proportions appear to be spot on and contribute to a very elegant appearance.
Renault will make sure that the new Laguna is very strong on perceived quality (Ghosn wants it to be in the top 3 at this level). However, don't be fooled by thinking that Renault wants to move upscale. Renault wants to be leader in profitability amongst mainstream manufacturers. And that is a very different proposition than trying to move to premium league. Increasing design appeal and quality but still in the mainstream league.
